What is data warehouse and business intelligence?

A data warehouse is a collection of data from different sources organised in the best possible way to allow for analysis and reports based on the data. This could, for example, be turnover per day, expenses or the like, which is important in order for companies to be able to make the right decisions.

Today, the term data warehouse is perceived as a part of business intelligence, which is a term used in a wide range of software solutions. Fundamentally, the software solutions work by translating data from a source system into simpler data that is easier to read in a new database, from which the end user can translate these into statistics or reporting.

A business intelligence consultant can thus help companies create an overview of large amounts of data for, for example, time registration and payroll, client databases and much more.
